How Thoughts Control Our Emotions

 Relation Between Thoughts and Emotions

Thoughts are shaped by our life-experience, our education, genetics, attitudes. They are generally in our control. By changing our attitudes, we can change our thoughts.

Now, emotion is ‘unconscious thoughts’ which is created by some external or internal factors.

Both, Thought and Emotion are parts of ‘feelings. Both of them require attention towards a specific thing.

Thoughts and emotion have a profound effect on one another. Like if you feel worried about something then you started to thought negative outcomes, and you became sad, stressed, depressed (emotion). Now if you continuously feel depressed then your all thoughts will become negative, and negative thoughts will again trigger your emotions. So, these is like a cycle. Another example is, in our childhood we were afraid of ghost, because we thought that ghost exist.

So, it is clear that thoughts control our emotions.

This is what happen during Cognitive-Behavioral-Therapy (CBT). After CBT we started believing that we have control over our thoughts and thus we can control our emotion and it’s true. It helps people to overcome any type of situation in life.

If I ask – What do emotion causes? Decisions. And decision help us to take action. Action give us result.

Now what will be the ‘result’. If you think it deeply, you might find that the reward list you created in your mind is the actual result.

So, it’s true that everything is created by thought. And thought promotes emotion.
